The 14th Sandals Travel Agency awards

The Sandals Whitehouse European village and spa in Westmoreland saw the fourteenth annual STAR awards, which had guests such as Air Canada’s president and CEO Eamonn Ferrin, Gordon Stewart and also the Jamaican PM Portia Simpson Miller in attendance.

Hundreds of world-renowned travel agencies graced the occasion and were recognized for the value that they add to Sandals and the innovative practices they adopt in their respective businesses as far as the sales and marketing of Sandals is concerned.

The Jamaican prime minister showered praise on the hotel chain for having played a key role in Jamaica’s tourism sector. She added that Sandals’ commitment and dedication to constantly improve their product was something from which people have to learn as tourism is increasingly looked upon as having bright future prospects for the country.

She also acknowledged the efforts that different travel agents have made in changing many villages into a thriving business for Jamaica.

According to Sandals’ CEO, the travel agents were directly responsible for the livelihood of many Jamaican families.

As far as the actual awards are concerned, the ‘Top destination travel agency’ award was given to TravelOnly from Canada and Destinationweddings.com fromtheUSA. In terms of exemplary sales performance, the award was given to many agents, such as Robbie Phillips from Royal Travel, Jennifer Doncsecz from VIP Vacations, Mark Hennigan from Dreamers Travel etc.

These days social media is being heavily used for marketing purposes, which helps travel agencies a lot to sell tours. Accordingly, a few were given the social media award for outstanding achievement as CEO.

The royal club award also had a few recipients, including but not limited to Adam Anderson from Wedding Vibe and Nancy Finn from Island Getaways. The award of excellence was given to Lisa Billings from Maritime Travel, Mary Fowler from Riverside Tours & Travel, Vinnie Vats from Travelair International Inc and Jeri Vaughn from Liberty Travel.

The chairman’s award went to Kathy Kennedy from One Love Honeymoons, Canada and Robbie Phillips from Royal Travel, USA.
