Travel Free of Charge in London on New Year’s Eve!

London is an extremely popular destination for celebrating the new year. The recent stabbing incident has brought the spotlight again on the Tube stations and traveling in London and currently there is a heightened sense of fear among the public. There is good news for travelers though, as Transport for London has stated that traveling in London will be free on New Year’s Eve!

This is not only limited to the Tubes but also to trams, buses, the DLR, Transport for London rail as well as London overground. Travelers will be able to enjoy free travel as they return home from their celebrations in safe manner.

However, the offer is not valid throughout all the night. It will be applicable from 11:45 pm to 4:30 am. This has been made possible thanks to Kayak.co.uk’s sponsorship.

Travel Free of Charge in London

It may be noted thatearlier, another sponsor had terminated their sponsorship agreement in 2013. Subsequently, Transport for London had arranged for the funding on their own for 2014.

However, travelers are advised to prepare their plans well in advance, so that they are aware of the choices available to them. For example, London OverGround, trams, the Tube and the DLR will have a service on Saturday. There is ongoing work happening with Transport for London Rail, as a result of which they will be running lesser services than normal between Shenfield and Liverpool Street.

Along with journey on TfL rail getting affected because of the work, National Rail services too have their own plans. There will be no service from Waterloo East, Charing Cross and Cannon St from December 25 to January 3. The number of services at Liverpool Street, Victoria and London Bridge will be reduced.
